The Question That Never Goes Away Description
Finding Meaning in the Midst of Suffering
In his classic book Where Is God When It Hurts, Philip Yancey gave us permission to doubt, reasons not to abandon faith, and practical ways to reach out to hurting people.
And now, thirty years after writing his first book, Yancey revisits our cry of 'Why, God' in three places stunned into silence by the calamities that have devastated them. At some point all of us will face the challenges to faith Yancey writes about and look for the comfort and hope he describes.
There are reasons to ask, once again, the question that never goes away: Where is God when we suffer? And Yancey, once again, leads us to find faith when it is most severely put to the test.

As always, Phillip Yancey has composed the words that keep me moving forward. I was so incredibly blessed by his book, The Gift of Pain, as I struggled with my own life challenges. I'm an amputee, and so much of what he said in The Gift of Pain was familiar to me. Now, with his new book, I can see how it all comes around. When I was researching before my amputation, and was so blessed by so many who had gone before me, and could offer me encouragement to me,I understood very deeply how giving back, now that I'm on the other side, helps the ones coming behind me. It's why I wrote "Just One Foot: How Amputation Cured My Disability". Because I so clearly saw how we are all just here to help each other.
Phillip Yancey is the master of this message. I'm so thrilled he wrote this new book, "The Question That Never Goes Away". There are so many who need it and so many who will be blessed by it. I wish I could give it a million stars on the rating system.

Just One Foot: How Amputation Cured My Disability By Writer-Reader
Having purchased, read, and shared all of Philip Yancey's books, I can assure readers they will not be disappointed in this latest publication; however I advise reading the hardcover version yet to come. I read this last night on my Kindle Fire and look forward to the hard cover edition for the purpose of underlining, sharing and debating.
The author reveals his observations, research, Biblical study, and thoughts on his close connections to people all over the world who have suffered great loss. You may or may not agree with all his answers as to why great suffering is allowed by a loving God, but you will definitely become stronger in your faith, more compassionate to others, and grateful we serve the God who gives us calm assurance when we look to Him for strength in the midst of terror and loss. The question is "Where Is God when calamity strikes?" "Why does God allow great suffering?" I have answers too - many are in this fine book, others are deep in my heart.
After you read and process "the question" you may have even more questions for the author to ponder! Help bolster his faith by writing to him about your thoughts on the mystery of God's love for humankind. The more we share what deepens our faith, the miracles in our life in answers to prayer, and the joy we feel in serving others, the better our short time on earth will be.
Thank you for reading my short review and read the hardback book if possible.
